Question Can wearing a certain type of sock cause blisters?
I went for a run earlier and I put on some fuzzy socks because it was cold. Normally I wear normal socks with my shoes and this is the first time I have gotten blisters due to my shoes. Could the thicker sock be the reason or are my shoes old and need to be retired?

Best Answer It's the socks. I'm a guy. I wear sneakers a lot but also wear work boots, regular shoes and western style boots. With the exception of socks for the shoes, which are always light weight colored (dark blue or black polyester/cotton), I wear white cotton athletic socks. Several years ago I went on a fairly long road trip and because I did most of the driving I wore my normally comfortably western boots (for ankle support) with relatively new heavy cotton athletic socks. On the second day I had blisters on both feet. So, after thinking about it, I went to a department store and bought a 3-pack of white Gold Toe polyester/cotton socks. The next day the blisters dried up. My problem was that the extra thick and rougher cotton took up too much room in the boots with the end result being friction I didn't count on. After I switched socks and gave my feet the room they needed my problem went away. The softer socks didn't hurt either. My conclusion is that your problem might be with the shoes but you should try different socks to make sure before you toss the old shoes and buy new ones.

Question Why do alot of highschool basketball players wear two pairs of socks where one different colored pair is lower?
They're are usually nike socks. It looks like they are wearing one sock with the top part white and the restof the sock black or something else. Is it for athletic or fashion purposes. I am just curious to see if they do this in other sports like football, soccer, or tennis?

Best Answer it is pretty much just basketball. Most people just do it for fashion. Some may do it for a slight bit more ankle support, but it doesn't help that much. I find it especially odd when someone wears ONE sock really high for "ankle support"...i mean if they really wanted ankle support wouldn't they have both socks up high?
