Hi, has anyone had to wear compression stockings for a few weeks after a caesarean birth? The nurses told me 6 weeks. It's almost 6 weeks, well 5 & a half & I've started to keep them off as overheating. Why 6 weeks? Can anyone shed light on this for me? Thanks.
Best Answer 6 weeks is about how long it takes for the body to heal. Some ppl actually heal faster, some slower. Depends on ur overall health. If you are nursing will actually heal faster, if you are feeling good and otherwise great shape, and breastfeeding, you should be fine now. If you are not breastfeeding and/or have some other symptoms or problems, stick with it for a little more or better yet call your birth provider (OB) and ask them the question.

I've had one used on me when I had surgery, and they're very good at getting rid of oedema in the legs. You may also want to try some graduated compression stockings, as they're very good at reducing oedema in the legs too.
