Question What kind of stockings do you wear with a garter belt?
I hope this isn't a dumb question! What kind of stockings do you wear? And where can I find them! Would they be like the sheer material pantyhose is made of?

Best Answer You wear thigh-highs that are not "stay-ups" which means they do not have a tight elastic band at the top. Thigh-high stockings that are meant to be worn with garter belts are usually referred to as thigh-high stockings and not "stay-ups" or "hold-ups". Those are designed to stay up without a garter belt. I don't like stay-ups because they are too tight and leave a bulge over the tops. I like regular nylon stockings from Nononsense (online) and Hanes which can be found at any dept store (Macy's, Dillards, JCP). They are the same nylon material that pantyhose are made from. They have lots of shades and thicknesses to choose from but I go for beige and nude sheer mostly but have some sheer black too for formal occasions when I don't want to wear full pantyhose and am wearing a longer skirt or dress or even pants. Be sure you get garter belts that have the metal garter tabs instead of the plastic ones because they are stronger and will hold up your stockings securely. The last thing you want are for your stockings to come loose from your garters and end up down your legs. Especially at work!

Question How to get thigh highs stockings to stay up?
I have a pair of thigh high stockings that I really like, but they won't stay up! I will wear them for a few minutes and they've already fell down to my knees. They say they're supposed to stay up, but they never do! Help me because I would really like to wear them.

Best Answer The best solution to this is to get a suspender belt for it. The reason why they don't stay up is that they don't have the silicone or elastic on the stockings. For the ones that you want them to stay up without the garter belts are the stay-up stockings (they usually have that lace like trim on the top of the stockings, some don't), as those have the elastic or silicone to make them hold on to the skin of your thigh(s). I agree that stockings are a sexy thing to wear and glad that you enjoy wearing them too. Once you have some suspender belts (garter belts), have you ever thought of getting some stockings that are Reinforced Heel & Toe or the Full Fashioned Stockings (ie Cuban Heel or French Heel), as the FF stockings would be really hot on a date night.
