Question Roughly how hard, how long, and how much money would it take to rebuild a cars engine?
All the wiring, all the hoses, all the tools ill need, a total engine over haul. Im not very expierenced but Im willing to wait and read up on everything

Best Answer A lot depends on what engine and what you want for example a stock chevy 350 long block wiich is a block and heads can be bought brand new for around 1900 from gm performance website at www.gm performance. com it is cheaper to buy a new crate motor and a lot less hassle than to start with a dirty greasy worn out motor that must be first cleaned torn down then the heads and block taken to be magnufluxed and checked for cracks to see if it is worth rebuilding. And then you need to know if you want a stock motor or plan to build one with more horsepower. Most shops do not have all the tools they need to rebuild a motor. So for example my mechanic buys a brand new gm crate motor for 1900 bucks this gives him a good starting point. He can then build almost any motor you want to pay the bill on from high dollar performance motors to a mild fun stop light to stop light little friday night butt kicker. It all depends on your pocket book. There are too many little things that having someone with experience would really make a difference when explaining the internal combustion engine and how it works. You can also buy a plastic model that is built exactly like a 350 v8 and that would be a really good way to learn stuff on your own. Check with your local library in the reference section if you go there and ask if they have any information on how motors work. But above all keep asking questions and be open minded if you like cars. The reason for this is that there are many aspects of a vehicle now that go far beyond a dirty filthy engine and transmission. Computers now are in every car ever produced thanks to fuel injection and some cars have up to seven computers helping to run the car. Every race team in the world has extensive computer systems and needs technicians and other support people on the teams now more so than ever before. So find something you are good at that is hard to do like say transmissions building a new one involves using lots of parts and oil but is a relatively clean job depending on what you are doing. Learning to build a 7 or 8 speed electronic transmission takes a ton of skill and know how and you need to take specialized classes to learn how. Once you do however and you like what you do and are willing to do the hard work because you are an exacting kind of guy who can follow directions one part at a time and build intricate but strong transmissions quickly you can open a shop or write your own ticket and save money and open your own shop later on. Its all about the schools you go too or the people who train you being competent. And if you want to know a good way to find a up and coming business looking for qualified techs do what I did when I had gotten hurt at work and was being retrained for electronics go to the dealerships or the big corporations you want to work for and find out what schools they like to get people from. Make notes and after you check three or four corporations you will find that they may take all of the guys who graduate from this one school first because the school has a reputation in the industry for top people . That is the school you want to graduate from . you may have to work and go to school but in the end its well worth it. Also some bigger companies may actually pay you to go to night classes for ase certified technicians. Once you show the initiative and drive some bosses may let you work part time and go to night school and give you a pay grade raise upon every completion of another certificate they business can hang on the wall. Do it for you primarily but if you have a family to support use that as your motivating factor to get your show on the road and show what you can do when you put your mind to it. Question What does it mean when I have dark looking veins that hurts on my left leg?
My left leg have been hurting for a week now and it got more painful everyday. I could not stand the pain anymore so I decided to put on some bengay. When I looked at me leg there are big veins that are visible. It does not pop out, but very visible. The pain got worst every passing day. I never had anything like that before and my family doesn't have any spider veins.

Best Answer if you don't have an injury that could account for an infection - then you've probably got varicose veins. while spider veins affect the feet, the varicose veins affect the legs and can cause tired aching legs - particularly if you're on your feet a lot. you may need to wear some support hose or even some knee length graduated compression stockings with a compression rating of 8-10 mmHg. support hose can usually be purchased anywhere that sells pantyhose, but you'd need to visit a pharmacy for graduated compression stockings. if your legs are really bad - you will need to visit your doctor to find out the exact problem - and if it is varicose veins - there are a number of small surgical procedures that can be done.
