Question What can I do for a burning sensation from thigh to knee(left leg) at night when I go to bed?
Are there any home remedies to solve the problem of having a burning sensation from your thigh to your knee when you go to bed at night. It tends to keep me awake a bit. Its as if I put Ben Gay on the area but I haven't. That is how it feels. I think it might be a back issue but I am wondering if anyone experienced this and what they have done for it without going to a doctor(crappy insurance). Thanks!

Best Answer Sound like circulation problem, or you may be right it is a back issue. But can be any and many other things. Do drink a gallon of water per day, take Aspirin a day 81 Mg if you are not allergic to it. Get active go for a walk for 45 minutes, every day. Just eat right and do other light exercises. I have answer this Q? many time and here is an edited extract of my previous answer. *********** Hot and cold compression are best. Get 2 buckets and a stool or a chair. Put one of your feet in an hot water bucket and the other in a cold water bucket. Every few minutes switch the bucket, or move the stool on the opposite side and sit down with the both feet in the buckets(one hot bucket and one cold bucket, one at a time). But. You can get relief by doing other thing too. 1). Check the gear and use proper gear to walk.(shoes, socks, knee supports, calf rappers(or legins). 2). Always warm up before walking at good clip. 3). Use good walking /running style or technique(jogging is very Bad it is high impact and can cause bone and mussels problem). After doing these things if needed apply pain killer ointments and massage them in lightly. Do try pain killer tablets that are available over the counter. See a Dr, get it X'Rayed , MRI, Sonogram, Ultra sound to rule out other problems.

Question What exactly do knee braces do to help people with bad knees?
I alway see people wearing those thin fabric knee braces, i can't imagine them helping much! How exactly do they help?

Best Answer The thin fabric ones will help stabalize the knee cap so it doesn't move around. It also puts some compression on it to keep swelling down and help if feel stronger and support it. The bigger ones help stabalize the whole knee so it doesn't wobble. I have one that looks like an ace bandage type sock w/open toe and heel, for my ankle. It gives my ankle extra support so it doesn't twist, but it doesn't look like much at all.
