Performance Graduated Compression – for racing or recovery – is a patented light weight sock made of Silver DryStat with a padded footbed and a thin mesh stripe which runs from the middle of the top of the foot to the bottom of the cuff, on both sides of the sock. The mesh, together with the light weight fiber, gives superior wicking and ventilation. The moderate compression is gradual, with the highest from the mid-foot to the top of the ankle, stimulating blood flow, increasing circulation, alleviating swelling, and contributing to a boost in performance and well-being.

Sockwell’s gradient compression therapy socks are designed to promote healthy circulation and soothe tired, aching feet and legs. Each compression sock we offer, provide moderate zoned compression (15-20mgHg) and are recommended for all day, every day wear. Our socks are produced on the most modern equipment in the world, giving us access to every conceivable feature that can be incorporated in a sock. Spandex Throughout — All Goodhew socks are manufactured with Spandex throughout the entire sock. One of our complaints about so many socks is "bagging out" of the sock as the day goes along. Spandex used throughout the entire sock ensures a snug fit all day long and helps prevent slipping in the shoe. We are not aware of any other brand that uses spandex throughout the sock in every sock they make. Flat Toe Seams — There is probably no greater item that can cause discomfort in a sock than a bulky toe seam. We use specially developed flat toe seams in all of our socks to ensure that you don't even notice they are there. Arch Support — An arch support is an added band of spandex that is knit into the sock in the arch area of the foot. An arch support serves two functions: providing support to the arch area of the foot and reducing slipping of the sock on the foot. Ring Toe Cushioning — We use ring toe cushioning in all of our cushioned socks. Ring toe cushioning is an extra band of cushion we put around the toe seam of the sock to bury the toe seam and further enhances the comfort of our flat toe seams.

Yahoo Answers For Nursing Compression Socks
Question Will Compression socks work for foot pain?
I'm in a wheelchair and have complete feeling in my legs, but after I've been seated for a few hours my feet start to hurt.

Best Answer Do you have swelling in the legs? If so, trying to put on Jobst stockings can mess up the knees. I don't know how they get TED hose on! They'd be worse. There are cotton socks that are tighter across the arch, with elastic, if you can find them that I've heard do help (a nurse who used them). However, are the feet hurting due to lack of circulation? If you've had a sonogram of the deep veins in the leg, when they tell you to bend your ankle, you can hear a "swoosh", which is the sound of increased blood flow at the ankle. That being the case, remember to bend the ankles to raise and then extend the toes several times every so often, which will increase the circulation in the feet and may very well stop the hurting. Good luck!
Question becoming a labor and delivery nurse?
when i graduate this year i want to became a labor and delivery nurse...yeah but i want to know some things first 1.do you have to wear the compression socks when you start out or when do you wear them? 2.are the pants you wear the same scrub pants the doctor wears? 3.how is nursing school? 4.whats a day like for you? anything else you would like to tell me would be great thanks in advance

Best Answer 1.I don't wear compression socks...but some of my coworkers with varicose vein issues do. 2. All staff that enters the C-section operating rooms must wear hospital-issued surgical scrubs....whether they are a nurse, doctor, midwife, surgical tech, patient care tech, housekeeper, or maintenance guy that comes in to repair equipment or change the light bulbs. 3. Time-consuming and a little stressful at times. 4. Could be a labor patient with a birth plan and a water birth or one who wants an epidural the minute she hits the birthing suite, could be an antepartum, could be several couplets (postpartum moms and babies). No day is ever the same....and neither is any birth. Now the stuff you really need to know: If you are in the US, you simply need to be an RN to be a Labor/Delivery nurse You can do that with a BSN, an Associates, or a 3-year Diploma from a hospital-based program. Successful completion of any of those 3 options will make you eligible to take the NCLEX and become an RN (graduates of those 3 types of programs all take the same NCLEX). I will say upfront that getting the BSN, from the very beginning, is going to be your best option for landing a job in OB nursing. I would suggest you look into trying to get a part-time job as a unit secretary or patient care tech in your local hospital's OB unit. Most OB units are Labor/Delivery/Recovery and a separate area for Post Partum, some are LDRP's, which function as one nursing unit from admission to discharge. Either area will provide you with invaluable experience while you are in college. Once you've completed a semester or two of clinicals, get a paid student nurse position in OB. That makes an easy transition into a new grad role and that's how young nurses get into OB without having to work in other areas!!!!! As far as college, pick a program accredited by either the NLN or CCNE: http://www.nlnac.org/Forms/directory_search.htm (primarily for ASN, Diploma, or LVN/LPN) Or http://apps.aacn.nche.edu/CCNE/reports/accprog.asp ( (for BSN and graduate programs) Many large medical centers/hospital networks offer a "nursing residency" for new grads that want to work in intensely specialized areas such as Emergency, ICU, Surgery, Ped, NICU, and Labor/Delivery. That would be something to start looking into once you've began nursing clinicals. Keep in mind that having the BSN many be a requirement for a Labor/Delivery residency in many facilities. If you get an ASN instead, you may need that year of Postpartum before you are oriented for labor. Best wishes in your nursing career goals!
